Following our online kick-off meeting, the RETOUCH NEXUS project partners met today (in person this time) at the Weihenstephan campus of the Technical University of Munich in Freising.
With funding from the European Union’s (EU) Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, the project’s main objective is introducing the WEFE Nexus approach to design and foster integrated, innovative, inclusive Nexus-smart water governance schemes, and institutional settings to promote a secure water future in the EU.
Among other topics, discussions on long-term priorities for water governance in Europe, presentations of the sister projects GOVAQUA and InnWater and the review of the work plan were on the agenda.
In the afternoon, the project partners had the opportunity to visit one of the oldest brewery in the world Weihenstephan brewery. A big thank you to our guides for this very interesting tour!
On the second day, after reviewing communication, dissemination and management strategies, the partners presented their case studies, focusing on local, regional and national challenges linked to the direct and indirect impacts of water governance schemes and policy interventions on economic sectors.
Many thanks to Maria Vrachioli and all the TUM team (RETOUCH NEXUS’s project coordinator) for organising and hosting the event, to the Project Officer (representing the European Commission) for attending the event and to all the partners for your contributions and active participation !
See you all again in person next year in Valencia 🇪🇸
Have a safe trip back !
