11 – 12 February 2025 in Morocco
Jointly organised by the BONEX and SureNexus projects, both funded by PRIMA, this important event will convene tackle the growing challenges and opportunities presented by the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) Nexus.
In our increasingly interconnected world, the complex and interdependent links between water, energy, food, and the environment are more apparent than ever. This understanding is embedded in key policy frameworks from major organizations such as the European Commission (EC), PRIMA, the United Nations (UN), UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (IHP), and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
While these frameworks emphasize the importance of the WEFE Nexus, a significant gap remains between strategic goals and real-world implementation. Practical examples of successfully turning these strategies into tangible solutions are still limited and often overlooked.
Conference Pillars
The conference will be structured around three key pillars:
- WEFE Nexus in Governance: Focusing on policy frameworks and institutional arrangements to ensure effective governance of WEFE resources.
- Gender and WEFE Nexus: Exploring the critical gender dimensions in WEFE resource management and promoting women’s empowerment.
- WEFE Nexus Solutions: Showcasing innovative and ancestral resource management practices that contribute to sustainable development, with discussions on the challenges and opportunities for adoption.
