After years of research, modelling and collaboration across Europe, RETOUCH NEXUS is reaching its final stage. On 21 October 2026, the project will bring together partners, policymakers and stakeholders in Freising, Germany and online for its Final Conference.
Taking place from 13:00 to 14:30 CEST, the event will present key results and insights from the project, with a particular focus on how modelling approaches can support more integrated water governance across the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus.
From modelling to practice
The conference will open with an introduction to the event and an overview of the work carried out within RETOUCH NEXUS. Participants will then discover the modelling approaches developed within the project, before exploring how these approaches have been applied in practice through the RETOUCH NEXUS case studies. Insights from the German, Spanish, Belgian and Maltese case studies will illustrate how modelling and Nexus-based approaches can help address complex water governance challenges in different contexts. The programme will then turn towards the policy dimension, examining how modelling results can be translated into concrete policy recommendations.
The conference will conclude with an open discussion and closing messages, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on the project’s results and their potential contribution to future water governance.
