Join us for an expert webinar exploring innovative approaches to water governance across Europe

On 26 February 2026 at 10:00 CET, the WaterGovernance2027 Synergy Group invites water professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders to a free one-hour webinar examining how economic instruments can strengthen river basin resilience in the face of climate change.

Why Economic Instruments Matter

As Europe grapples with increasing water scarcity, flooding, and quality challenges, traditional governance approaches alone are proving insufficient. This webinar will explore how water pricing mechanisms and other economic instruments can be leveraged to integrate environmental externalities and support more adaptive, integrated water management strategies.

Learning from Cross-European Innovation

The session brings together insights from three collaborative research projects, GOVAQUA, InnWater, and RETOUCH NEXUS, which together form the WaterGovernance2027 Synergy Group. These projects are developing, assessing, and validating effective governance practices across 17 diverse test sites in 13 EU Member States, from agricultural regions to urban areas and from local catchments to national-level initiatives.

Participants will discover concrete, real-world examples demonstrating how economic instruments are being successfully implemented across Europe’s varied water contexts, creating a comprehensive framework for knowledge sharing and scaling best practices.
